Abstract

This research aims to describe: 1) the readability of the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of calculating tens of squares of 5 units using the KIFMAR formula; 2) readability of the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying unit numbers by 9 using the KIFMAR formula; 3) readability of the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 9 using the KIFMAR formula; 4) readability of the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 99 using the KIFMAR formula; 5) readability of the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 11 using the KIFMAR formula. The article uses library research methods carried out at the beginning of the even semester 2023/2024. The research subject was 15 paragraphs of procedures on mathematics themes at high school level. Research data was collected using observation guidelines for procedural paragraphs on mathematical themes found in online journal scientific articles. The readability of procedure paragraphs was analyzed using the modified Fog index formula. Checklist instruments are used to validate procedure paragraphs sourced from secondary data and also to validate readability calculation results. Research results: 1) the sub-theme procedure paragraph for calculating tens of squares of units 5 using the KIFMAR formula is easy to read by elementary school students; 2) the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying unit numbers by 9 using the KIFMAR formula is easy for elementary students to read; 3) the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 9 using the KIFMAR formula is easy for elementary students to read; 4) the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 99 using the KIFMAR formula is easy for elementary students to read; 5) the procedure paragraph for the sub-theme of multiplying tens by 11 using the KIFMAR formula is easy for elementary students to read.
